Angela Evelyn Bassett (born April 15th in 1961) is an American actress. Her work has earned her recognition for her film and TV performances since the early 1980s. Her accolades are two Golden Globe Awards, sixteen NAACP Image Awards as well as nominations for Academy Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett was raised in New York New York and was raised by her aunt living in Winston-Salem North Carolina. Bassett relocated with her older sister St. Petersburg Florida at age five in order to be near their mother as she was divorced from her father. Bassett was inspired to become an actor after watching the play Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, starring James Earl Jones. Yale University New Haven Connecticut granted her a bachelor's degree (1980), in African American study, and an advanced degree (1983) at the Yale School of Drama. Courtney B. Vance met her at Yale In 1997, they got married. Qualification: B.A. graduated from the Yale School of Drama School with a Master's Degree on African American studies in the year 1980.
